Because Bray and I are zoo members, we went back again today (w/my dad in tow) and this time we got to feed the giraffes. At first Braydon was completely excited about feeding the giraffes, but when the giraffe's 18 inch tongue darted out her mouth and twisted around the lettuce in his hand, he wanted nothing more to do with the feeding. We were both shocked by the tongue thing (as you can see in my facial expression), but it was still a memorable experience. I've never been so close to a giraffe and was totally enamoured by their big gorgeous brown eyes and thick eyelashes. Anyway, here are a few pictures from our giraffe experience:)
Go ahead and mention my child, the one that died, you know. Don’t worry about hurting me further, the depth of my pain doesn’t show. Don’t worry about making me cry, I’m already crying inside. Help me to heal by releasing the tears that I try to hide. I’m hurt when you just keep silent, pretending he didn’t exist. I’d rather you mention my child, knowing that he has been missed. You asked me how I was doing, I said “pretty good” or “fine”. But healing is something ongoing, I feel it will take a lifetime. ~ Elizabeth Dent ~
